Answer to Question #13071 Submitted to "Ask the Experts"
Category: Other — HPS and the AAHP
The following question was answered by an expert in the appropriate field:
Are the Continuing Education Credits (CECs) offered by the AAHP at the annual HPS Meetings considered equivalent to "Continuing Education Units" and accredited or approved by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET)?
The Continuing Education Credits (CEC) used by the American Academy of Health Physics (AAHP) are not equivalent to Continuing Education Units and are not accredited/approved by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training. AAHP uses the CECs for determining compliance the requisite education and training to obtain a Certified Health Physicist credential. Other organizations may deem that the CECs approved by AAHP would suffice for continuing education requirements within their domain, but could not expect to receive an endorsement from AAHP for that use.
