Are x-ray aprons radioactive as a result of being exposed to x-ray radiation multiple times during the day all year?
A
X-ray aprons do not become radioactive after exposure to diagnostic x rays. X rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation similar to light but at a higher energy in the electromagnetic spectrum. The energy imparted by diagnostic x rays to the lead apron is converted to an imperceptible bit of heat, but they cannot impart radioactivity to the apron itself.
